Chapter 364 Worst Car Ride Ever

"Stop staring at me!"

Ronnie swiftly pulled his eyes back onto the road.

"One more time," Sophie said, her teeth clenched so tightly she looked like a bad ventriloquist. "I'm not gonna ruin their big, fricken day! I will put on a happy face once we get back to Catalpa Valley and I'll tell them I'm eternally happy for them, okay? And if you look at me one more time with those kicked-once-too-often-puppy-dog eyes I will smack you upside the head so hard you won't wake up til next week!"

Oh, yeah, that was reassuring! Yes, Ronnie had been glancing anxiously at her the whole ride out of the city because he just didn't know when she'd explode and he was certain she would. She sat there riding shotgun with her arms folded over her chest, scowling and seething with so much anger it was palpable. Well, guess she just did explode, so maybe now he could relax a bit, but still, he didn't believe her for a second!

Chapter 363 Is it true

Victor stopped the car just one house shy of his driveway.

Violet sighed. "Are we gonna fight again?" she said, making a face.

"Hope not. I have a question," he said.

"Only one?" Violet said, astonished.

He smiled. "Okay, maybe two," he said. "You said that when Richard came to you it was always in a dream."

"Yes," she replied.

"Yet you said my mother was there when you showered and dress, then she was the one that fixed your hair and makeup for you," he said.

"Yes," she said again. "That isn't a question."

"Didn't finish," he replied. "So you woke up already dressed with your hair done?"

"Oh!" Violet said. "I see what you mean. No, she woke me up and everything and then when I was ready to go downstairs she just kinda disappeared. Yeah, that is weird!"

"No more weird than talking to dead people, I'd say," Victor muttered.

Chapter 362 The Insanity Plea

Victor stopped the car, put it in park and turned it off. This would have been a perfectly fine thing to do had not he stopped in the middle of the road and in front of his nosy and extremely annoying neighbor, Paul Dermer, who at present was inconsiderately shoveling snow out of his driveway and into the road.

He, Paul Dermer that is, stopped mid-shovel and motioned Victor to roll down his window as he obviously had something insightful to say. "Hey there, neighbor," he touched the brim of his fur-lined, ear flap cap and nodding to Violet. "Got yourself a bit of car trouble, do ya? Them fancy cars will do that. Want me call down to Joe's garage for a tow?"

"No, thanks, Paul. I'm just having an aneurysm," Victor said mildly.

Chapter 361 I'm Staying

Simon took so long getting ready that by the time he went to the kitchenlooking like something straight off the cover of GQ-- he found everyone sitting at the breakfast bar already eating.

"Couldn't wait for me, huh?" he snidely asked, grabbing his bagel. He made a face when he found it was no longer warm.

"It was hot from the oven when I got it," Ronnie answered his unspoken question. "Pop it in the toaster oven if you want it warm."

"About time you came out of the bathroom, Simon. Thought you mighta drowned. Good thing there's more than one bathroom in this place," Sophie said, taking a bite and turning to Ronnie. "How did you manage growing up with this guy?"

Ronnie laughed. "Wasn't easy," he replied.

"I'll bet," she said. "Kinda prissy, ain't he?"
