Chapter 152 Sexy little thing

Wasn’t this abject humiliation in its finest form!
Violet stood, wearing that sexy little thing, in ridged mortification feeling as defenseless, naked and ugly as a newborn vulture. Of all the reactions she expected from Victor upon him seeing her like this, laughter was not among them. And here she had worried she’d overcome his senses, cause excessive drooling and/or have to fight off unwanted advances. Okay, not exactly unwanted, but she thought she’d have a hard time keeping him off of her. Instead, Victor was laughing his head off.
Fancy that, huh?

Although too late to prevent the complete annihilation of her pride, she imagined covering up might stop him from waking up the entire house and give her back an iota of dignity. She stumbled over the dress tangled at her feet and headed for her bag. She frantically rummaged through it, but it wasn’t there.
“Looking for this?” Victor said, holding up her night gown and satiny bath robe.

Ch151 He still doesn’t get what she means

Richard shook his head and grimaced. “He’s such an idiot. He still doesn’t get what she means.”

“And you do?” Heidi asked. “Seems to me she can’t get the words right, whatever it is she’s trying to say.”

“Of course I know! She’s comparing herself with all his past conquests; from his lustful first time with…whatever her name is…”

“Chenille,” Heidi said, her lips pursed irritably.

“Yeah, her…to his gorgeous wife and everyone in between and since.”

“And?” Heidi asked, confused. “Why would she do that?”

“She wants to know why he suddenly changed gears.”

“Changed gears? What is that supposed to mean?”

Ch150 Get her into bed

Victor heard the soft knock at the door and cocked an eyebrow. He had wondered if he’d ever get her into bed, but now that she at last came upstairs, she’s politely knocking at her own bedroom door? Did Violet really think she needed to do that before coming in? With all they’d been through together and what they’ve already done—whether or not she remembered doing it—she should at least know he was not remotely shy, so how could she truly think it necessary to knock first?

Of course, he realized as he closed over the book he had been reading, he most likely would have done the same, but that was only because she was so prim, proper and…well…prudish.

There he said it! He was in love with the ultimate prude. Spending the night deflecting Chenille’s advances taught him this, in sharp contrast. Ah, well, there are worse things to be.

“Come in, Violet,” he said, amusement in his voice. His smile widened as she carefully poked her head around the door, her eyes as wide and round as twin full moons. “Are you expecting a dragon to lunge at you? It’s only me here, sweetie.”

Ch149 Tea and Sympathy

“Did you have a nice time?”

“Aunt Lucy, you shouldn’t have waited up for us. I would’ve locked up for you,” Victor said.

“Oh, it’s still early. I only sleep a few hours anyway. So…did you like the castle, Violet? Was the food good? Did you enjoy yourself?” she said eagerly.

Violet tried to smile, but failed.

“What’s wrong?” Lucy said, placing a comforting hand on her arm. “Goodness! You’re shaking like a leaf. Victor, what have you done to this poor child?”

“We almost ran into a family of bears. She’s spooked is all. She’ll be fine,” he said.

Lucy glared at him. “Oh, sure, nothing to you. You beast! She’s upset and needs a nice cup of tea and sympathy to calm her nerves. Come with me sweetie,” she said putting her arms around her and forcing her to the kitchen. Turning back to Victor she snapped, “You run along to bed. You’ve done quite enough damage!”
